Laminate Floor Care & Maintenance Guide

Laminate Floors don’t just look good, they’re designed to stay that way as well. Able to withstand all your day to day wear and tear and to ensure an easy and efficient way to make sure your floor is always looking its best.

General Maintenance:
A well maintained floor will provide many years of service life and will add to the overall durability that only a laminate floor can offer:

  • Place mats at exterior and interior doors to trap sand and grit from incoming traffic.
  • Stick soft pads to the base of all furniture in contact with the floor.
  • Keep pets claws properly trimmed to avoid excess scratches and gouges.

Routine cleaning:
For regular cleaning of your floor, use any non-abrasive, soap-free cleaners suitable for laminate floors. It is important that you do not use soap based detergents which can leave a dull finish on the floor that can be extremely difficult to remove.

- Sweeping - Regularly to remove grit or objects that may scratch the surface of your floor.
- Vacuuming - Preferably with an effective dust filter and suction nozzle for hard surfaces.
- Dust mopping - Followed by wiping down with a well-rung damp mop or cloth.

A few things not to do on your Laminate floor are:

- DO NOT use abrasive cleaners, nylon scouring pads, steel wool or scouring powder on your floor as they all have the potential to damage your Laminate floor.
- NEVER use a steam mop or wax and polish your floor
- NEVER flood the floor with water. The use of excessive water can damage your laminate floor.

In the case of any spills they should be soaked up/wiped off the surface of the floor as soon as they occur, including pet urine. Most spills or other marks will wipe off quickly and easily with a clean, white cloth. Larger marks and more difficult spillages may be removed with methylated spirits
